I can't wait for summer because..

Helene In Between

Now I know it's only the beginning of Spring but if you know much about Florida, especially the area I'm in (Pensacola), then you are quite aware that we really only really have Spring and Summer seasons. So when two of my favorite folks Taylor put together this link up, I was all for it... until I completely missed the date-- thinking that it was for today and it wasn't. But it's all good, I can share this with you anyway!
I could tell you all about how awesome my area is and all the cool things that summer brings but I've decided that I will mostly just show pictures.. adding my thoughts here and there!
The photos will pretty much make it clear why I can't wait for Summer!!!

When was the last time you saw "something" this beautiful.. without traveling out of the Country?  Exactly. Pensacola Beach is such a great place.  Packed with great food, bars, and Locals.. you can always find a welcoming spot on our sugar sands that will bring you straight to a place of tranquility!

Black Water River is one of my favorite places-- especially when there are major, back to back traffic causing events on the beaches. The water is ALWAYS refreshing, the people are country-kind, and there's always something fun to do.  Whether it's canoeing, tubing, boating, or zip lining.. this place is absolute devine serenity (most of the time).

Our Summer Seafood/Grilling is some that you really can't debate-- it's the BEST! From fresh caught Blue Crab, Shrimp Chef Salads, Crab Legs, and Grilled Chicken and Veggies.. our Restaraunts will not disappoint and the locals really know what's up too!  There are so many great places to get fresh goodies to impress guests with.

And the drinks!  Ahhhh-- there are a plenty of bars along the beaches that will whip you up popular drinks or something that you ask them to create.  One of my faves is the 190 Octane but of course, a Bloody Mary is always a go to. You can't really go wrong..

What are you looking forward to?

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend was GORGEOUS!! It was in the 70's, bright, and there was a great breeze.
We had big plans to head to Pensacola Beach on Saturday but we had to make some minor adjustments after my neighbor showed me how wonderful traffic was..

Lucky for us, Perdido Key is only about 20 minutes away and the drive is pretty nice. We made it out to the beach around 1:30 and found a great spot that wasn't packed and near a bathroom. While the water isn't as beautiful as the other beach, it certainly didn't disappoint us one bit (we didn't get in-- it's not warm enough yet).

Saturday night, thankfully not too burnt, we decided to rent a movie and hang out the house with Levi. I have been trying to rent Odd Thomas from Redbox for a week now and it's been sold out. Great movie but a tear jerker at the end. Even Rob cried! LOL

Sunday was pretty uneventful.. I wanted to go back out to the beach but Rob had other plans. I woke him up at 3:30pm with eggs and nagging! One hour later I was able to get him moving and we headed over to my Parent's house for Sunday dinner. I'm still on my Clean Eating and health kick so I tried to make something yummy, while the men folk had steaks-- THAT I GRILLED (and were super yummy, so they said).
We also wore Levi out with a frisbee.. he's a WILD MAN when it comes to those damned things. He will play with them until he literally can't breathe or stand. SO cute.
I will spare the video!

The only thing missing here are my collards-- YUM!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend!  This week is going to be crazy for me.  Not only is the beginning of "The Season" in my business but it's only me in the office.
Is it Friday yet, by the way?  I'm hoping for another beach filled weekend!

Three things...

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday!
It's been awhile since I've joined Neely for a Sunday Social and since I was up WAY past my bedtime, I thought I might jump aboard the Sunday Social train. I promise to be back to my blogging norm/self this week!! I hope everyone is doing well! :)
It has been gorgeous here over the past two days so Rob and I ventured out to the beach today and enjoyed ourselves-- more on that later.
It's going to be a crazy week for me but I'm going to "hang in there" and tough it out!

1. Top 3 things you cant go a day without doing: Checking Instagram (you can find me here), chewing/eating ice, talking to my Mom!

2. 3 things that scare you the most: Losing another child, My Parents passing away, & gaining weight (I know that sounds vain but you can read of just some of my struggles here.  There are a lot of things that scare me.. while I'm not scared of dying or someone breaking into my house and attacking me-- I can't imagine life without my Parents or having to deal with another loss!

3. 3 places you want to see before you kick the bucket: Ireland, Las Vegas, Austrialia.

4. 3 movies you will always love: Grease, The Sound of Music, Dazed and Confused.

5. 3 favorite current songs: There are really SO many.. especially with me working for a Professional DJ company but the ones that seem to be in my head or catching my attention the most are the following--

I've been in love with Paramore (Haley Williams) for a long time! I pretty much know all of her songs/lyrics to everything that she has released. I would die to see her in concert!

Rob likes to think this song was written about him-- I hate to burst his bubble.

I adore this song-- Mary's voice it so awesome!!

I hope you have a GREAT week!!!

I'm gonna tell ya...

My Confessions!  And boy do I have some to share! But first, I've started clean eating and exercising.  While I've only been doing it two days, I'm really enjoying the way that it makes me feel. If anyone has some good clean eating recipes or snacks to share, please do so because I'm in the learning and research phase.  K, thanks!

I confess...

People that don't hold up on their end of the bargain, have begun to get on my nerves more than usual. I know what you may be thinking, "this chick has some thin nerves that are easily tap danced upon".  And yes, it can be true at times. But I really try to do my best to do what I say I'm going to do or have the best intentions of doing, so come on-- do the same please or don't waste or best talking to me about it and blowing smoke up my ass! And hearing reasons why someone can't do this or someone can't do that just seems like incompetence to me. All I hear is blah blah blah!!

So, you're standing on a street corner, waiting to cross a busy Downtown road, music blaring on your headphones and someone tries to hold a conversation with you. Do you stop what you are doing (stop the song you are loving on Pandora) and speak to them or look at them like they are crazy and look away? Seriously? I HAVE HEADPHONES ON AND I"M MOUTHING WORDS-- LEAVE ME ALONE!

How do I teach Rob to chew gum with his mouth closed and not smack?  To be aware of when he is wrestling a wad of gum with his tongue and I can hear everything? It makes me insane.  Literally, I want to throw away every pack of gum he buys when he's not looking. I'm not perfect but I know good and damned well that I don't toss gum loudly around in my mouth. Does anyone know how to cure this gum smacking disease?  HELP ME!

I'm super excited about clean eating and putting good things in my body but I can't help that I miss being able to just eat whatever I want.  YES, I am committed to this change I am making and I want it in the worst way. But it's like telling a teenager they can't do something, they immediately want to run out and do what you told them they can't do. And it doesn't help that my coworker continuously has told me that I'm starving myself so her fast food and Subway looks amazing to me (that just always seems to be around the past couple of days!). I keep telling myself.. she'll eat her words in a month when I'm down 20lbs and grinning from ear to ear!

I'm becoming more and more jealous of my friends/people I know that tell me about how they can just pick up and travel on the weekends. How does that work? While I'm not much into major traveling, it would be nice to take a 3 or 4 hour drive to New Orleans or maybe Jacksonville one weekend-- just to get out of town.  I'm off on the weekends but I just can't see spending that money. Do people just really have money to blow like that? I sure don't and I'm jealous as hell of people that do.

One of my long time friends got married a couple weeks ago. I really wanted to go to the wedding but I didn't want to go out and buy a new outfit (neither did Rob) nor did I want to sit through a ceremony or hob knob with people that I didn't know or care to know. I made the lame excuse that I had to work, knowing that I'm pretty sure she remembered that I don't work weekends. But seriously, I'm NOT having a wedding (hashtag courthouse), so why would I want to go to yours?  Send me pics, ok?

What are your Humpday Confessions?

A sinfus infected, movie-filled weekend, & typical nonsense!

Yay!  A new week is upon us.. said no one ever! Fail!
I've literally been dealing with sinus issues for weeks now, so I should be used to it, right?
WRONG! This is/has gotten old. Hella old. This is also the reason why my blogging has been a little scarce. I'm just worn out!

*this is false! don't let anyone tell you otherwise!*

Not only was this weekend full of rain and thunderstorms (Friday, while I worked-- it just happened to be one of the most beautiful days we have had yet), but my nose uncontrollably ran and my face felt like I'd been hit by a sledge hammer. On a positive note, I got to spend tons of time with Levi. That helped a little..
We spent Friday night in with Levi and watched a few episodes of Burn Notice.  I'm really liking that show.  The great thing about it is that NetFlix has pretty much all of the seasons. Downtown Pensacola was having Gallery Night, so we wanted to be hermits and avoid all the hustle and bustle.
*could this little guy get more precious? you're right, no!!*

Saturday, we had big plans to do some gardening at my Parent's house while they spent the night in New Orleans.. thanks to the weather, that didn't happen.  Instead, we rented a couple movies and I made some homemade pizza. Redbox didn't disappoint. We ended up getting Last Vegas and The Butler.  While I don't typically like movies that show a lot of "slavery stuff" in them or feature ANYTHING about Obama (sorrynotsorry), I had really been wanting to see it.  And with a cast like Last Vegas had, I knew it would be good.

Sunday, you could say that the rain helped us sleep in late.  Not that we really had anything to get up for. Levi was curled up in bed with us and that's just Heaven to me. I got up briefly to make some cabbage for dinner and let the dogs out, and then climbed back into bed.  And then we made a trip to the grocery store on the way home. You'll notice that we pretty much ONLY bought veggies so it sound be a somewhat healthy week.

This should be a pretty busy week for me but I am pretty excited about a meeting that I have on Tuesday night. I am going to start selling Body by Vi and I can't wait.  If you are interested or want some info about it.. let me know.  I'm just learning about it and get to taste all the shakes but it's pretty darn interesting.  You can check out my friend's website here. If you are interested in signing up, either let me know or let my friend Kara know that you found the site by me :)

Have a great week!

Seriously? Sh*t Men Say! Edition 3

Seriously, one of my most favorite days of the month!! Even though I'm a day late, Amanda is pretty awesome I know she'll still accept me! Somehow, I managed to find a life and it kind of gets in the way of blogging.. along with being sick. Bleh!
Anyway-- just a few precious moments with Satan to share with you.
The man thinks he's hiliarious and while I usually roll my eyes with disgust will giggle a little, I have to admit he had me laughing this month!

When Rob was working for United Carriers, one of the families he was moving was going to flush their Beta Fish.. so he literally brought "Red" home in a styrofoam cup. This little guy lived through a 3 hour drive home and I just love him. He's got such a personality and we talk to him and treat him like he's a dog or something.  We are weird. We know.
When we get home from work every day, I will ask him "Did you feed your fish?"
One day Rob is standing in the kitchen feeding Red.. loudly farts.. giggles like a school girl. And then says, "that tickled".

Rob always drives the car. It's a rare occasion that I drive.. it's not that I'm a bad driver, he would just rather drive. On one of the days that I was driving, I look over and he's scratching his balls.  I say nothing but just stare at him. He looks at me and says,
"What? My snatch itches!"
This caught me off guard and I thought it was hilarious! I happen to love that awful word.. and he knows it. It's not every day that you hear it from a man.

Rob hardly ever gets a week day off.  Hell, during the summer he will work on Saturdays and pick up side jobs on Sundays (and complain about it too-- yay me!). So, one week Rob didn't have work for two days in a row and I decided I would leave a very small to do list for him. When I went to work, I left a "Honey-Do List" for Rob that said to clean the Toilet. I got home and he had done nothing but made a mess.  I asked why nothing was done and he proceeds to look at the list and says that he doesn't know a
"toe-lee-et" is.  While he pronouces it in the wrongest way.
Not funny!  Get your ASS UP AND DO YOUR JOB, YOU LAZY SOB!!

I am constantly telling Rob to be optimistic! But lately I will tell him to stop being a Pessimist. I guess he's gotten tired of hearing me say it and/or saying things like "If you were only optimistic instead of such a pessimist, then maybe you'd have a different outcome" So one day after I yell tell him to stop being a pessimist, he says,
"I'm not a pessimist, I'm an atheist!"
Really? Stuuuuuupid!

Blog Baton & Weekend Shenanigans!

If you're in the cool club, and I know you are.. then you know what here today! I'm super stoked that I'm able to take over today and I wish I could give *hints* about my take over here, but I can't--
I will, however, tell you about my weekend..

If you've never tried something like this yumminess-- you need to, ASAP! It's a great way to make delicious fruit fattening sweet and tasty! You will really surprise folks when you show up at a Spring/Summer Party with this!

My Mom and Dad celebrated their 40th Anniversary on Sunday. I can honestly say that I have really never seen them argue-- yeah.. they've picked at each other like every couple does but in all of my 32 years, I've never seen them raise their voice to each other. They have shown me what real love is and what you do in order to make it last and stand the test of time. I'm SO lucky to have them as my Parents. SO LUCKY!!

My niece and Goddaughter, Morgan.. celebrated her 17th birthday this past weekend.  It seems like just the other day I was standing next to my Sister's side while she's was bring counted down in order for Morgan to be delivered into this crazy world. Not only is she athelethic but she's etremely smart and her attitutude is contagious!
There are NO words to explain how much I love this wonderful person

My Dad loves to Travel on the weekends.. especially now that he's retired. Becuase my Mother doesn't enjoy staying at home by herself; and Rob & I love getting out, we decided that we would keep her company whhile he was gone. So we "camped out" which her this weekend and were given a few "around the house jobs". Rob took on the job of cleaning up one of the old back yard areas where years old  elephant ears had frozen and died.  It took a couple hours but it looks SO much better.  Maybe, now that a couple of the big backyard areas are cleared-- WE CAN PARTY!!! Whoop!  lol :) :)

Every year there is a HUGE party and run.. the McGuire's St. Patrick's Day Run and it just happened to be this weekend.  About 14,ooo people ran. Last year, we wached from our condo but didn't parttake in the fun.. and this year we just read about it in the paper.  While I have a lot of friends that are gungho about this event, I just can't hang ith the drinking, partying, and running... it is always a good time though P)

And.. this cute guy-- I just couldn't be anymore in love with him.  He's so precious and makes me so happy!!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend!!  And I hope that you were able to check me out on Instagram today-- if you're like me, and love IG like I do.. sign up to hold the Baton and I will check you out as well. TODAY is going to be rough for me-- cross your fingers for me/say a prayer for me/or just think of me!

Have a great day!!

Teamwork ~ Live & Learn

Truth is.. I've been sick this week and tonight, I feel real bad.  Therefore, I'm not really up to posting much. My message is all about Teamwork-- there isn't supposed to be an "I" in team but there actually is, in the actual word. Seriously, what I've learned in projects and jobs; past and present.. is that it's best to work as a Team. No talking behind backs. Addressing issues in a professional manner. And so forth.
Be Adults, work together, be honest, and remember that everyone is human.
If this doesn't make sense.. it's because I'm sick and nothing makes sense right now.

Speaking of jobs.. here's a few recent things I've learned:

  • Photo Shop isn't all that easy to get when watching over someone's shoulder or when checking out tutorial Youtube videos.  (Someone teach me)
  • It's best to just leave your "work scheduling program" up at all times.. especially at Events.
  • Wedding Reception Videos make me cry.
  • Colored pens make my day so much better!

The Crafty Practitioner

I promise that I won't be so lame next week.. also, we have a co-host next week--
Laney @ Night Owl Venting.

CMT's "Party Down South" were shunned by our locals..

Chances are, you've heard something about CMT's Party Down South, right? PDS,
  1. by the same producers of Jersey Shore, is said to be one of the most outrageous reality TV shows aired in 2014. It follows eight young, wild adults for a summer of extreme fun and debauchery. Their summer vacation spot, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, may never be the same after the fast friends work, party and bond with each other over their love of the South.
I've seen the show a handful of times, mainly because I was bored.. and it wasn't too terribly bad.  Mainly just entertaining because I think the cast members were just drunk and silly, acting like I would if I was buzzed and trying to make my friends laugh-- totally NOT being serious. To each his own.. no judgement here.

A week or so ago, I got word that the Production Company was visiting Pensacola & Pensacola Beach.. scouting out a place to start filming the second season of the show. I really didn't give it too much thought at first but then I started thinking how interesting it would be because it would bring a lot of money to the town, etc.  Well, little did I know, The residents of Pensacola and Pensacola Beach did NOT take kindly to the show coming to town.

The local newspaper has repeatedly published articles about the show coming to town and what locals have to say.. here are a few things that struck a cord with me (Cliff's Notes versions by Me)-- all were printed and found at Pensacola News Journal.
  • News that producers were coming to town to film the show’s second season ignited a raging debate this week as thousands of people take to social media and even email to protest it. Since launching Wednesday, more than 9,800 people have “liked” the Locals Against Party Down South Facebook page. The likes grow by hundreds per hour. More than 1,600 people have signed a petition, spun off from the Facebook protest, to be delivered to Gov. Rick Scott stating, “We the people of Pensacola do not want CMT’s ‘Party Down South’ to take place in our town EVER. ... We’re hoping we can be put on the map based on our support to keep our integrity, not selling it to a show that exploits eight people for $500 an episode.”
  • A Pensacola native, who is proud of his Southern roots, asked on Facebook what the Spanish explorer responsible for the birth of Pensacola would think about it becoming known as the city for “Party Down South.” “That stigma would make Don Tristan DeLuna roll in his grave,”he wrote. “We love our city,” he said. “It takes one silly show like this to cast a shadow on us. John Q. Public is going to see this show and associate it with Pensacola, and that’s unfortunate.”
  • A Owner of a Downtown restaurant and one on Pensacola Beach, said once she read the contract producers were asking her to sign, she said “no way.” “They came in the shop on Monday and took pictures and asked us to sign a contract for March 14 through May 15,” she said. “The contract said we’d agree to let them come in and film any time and anything they wanted to. We’d lose all of our right as to what is filmed and aired.” She didn’t have to stretch her imagination too far to guess how producers would exploit the restaurant.
  • Other bars and restaurants, are signing contracts. “We want to support this because we got burned when the Blue Angels show and DeLuna Fest canceled last year.” “We lost thousands and thousands of dollars. This reality show will bring tons and tons of revenue to not just us, but to the hotels, convenience stores. “With this being our first year opened out here, we need to do whatever we can to stay open. If that’s to support a stupid reality show, so be it.”
  • The Executive Director of a local company, is part of one of the local businesses that stands to lose if “Party Down South” producers choose to pass on Pensacola. She has a $150,000 contract to feed the cast and crew for 56 days, but she believes staying true to the community that supports her nonprofit — which provides thousands of meals for terminally ill and hungry people — is more important. “We’d like to have the money,” she said. “But the whole reason we have our nonprofit is the help from the community. We want what is best for the community.” She also is willing to provide catering to the cast and crew if they move farther east or north of Pensacola, an option she said she thinks the producers are considering.
So how do I feel about this?  I think that we didn't need all the drama in the Newspaper.. I think we should have welcomed them to our area because we need the money to grow on. Why would we ever want to blatantly push someone out of such a beautiful place?  As of now, PDS won't be coming here-- I feel like we are missing out.

How would you feel about this show or a show like this coming to your area?  What about the locals??

NIght Owl Venting

Home is where the Hart is!

My home sweet home, the place I was born and raised in.. Pensacola, FL.. which can also be known as the town of the "World's Whitest Beaches" (due to the sugary white sand prevalent along beaches in the Florida Panhandle), "Cradle of Naval Aviation" (because of it's housing many Naval Air Stations and being the home of the Blue Angels), The Redneck Riviera, and "LA" (meaning Lower Alabama).  I really haven't known anything other than this gorgeous area.  While I have traveled a handful of places, I wouldn't trade this wonderland for anything.  We don't have seasons other than Spring and Summer-- the water stays emerald green year round and the people have a Southern Charm that can often be contagious.

With that being said, when Brianna started listing things she loved about the place she called home.. I knew that I would be crazy not to as well.  The town that I grew up in is incredibly important to me and I treasure it.
Let me explain why...

1. Pensacola is the Home of the Blue Angels. Recently, the Blue Angel Shows have been "stolen" from us.  It blows-- but beyond all that, hundreds and thousands of people would flock to the beach by cars and boats to watch. It was spectacular. For awhile now, you can see Folks in town with bumper stickers that say "Ground Air Force One Not Our Blue Angels".  It speaks VOLUMES!

2. Our Pier!!!  Stretching out across the emerald green waters beyond 2 sand bars the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier has some of the most exciting fishing and sights any pier Florida has to offer. And did I forget to say, "the most friendly pier around!" The Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier is here for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a seasoned fisherman or a beginner you will be right at home on our pier. We also have everything you need to fish, bait, tackle, rental rods, coolers and carts as well as food and drinks in our new restaurant, tackle and gift shop Go Fish.

3. The Pensacola Beach Sign... It's a Historical Damned sign Folks.. and you should see it! I've grown up seeing the sign and I can't imagine it not being there-- in fact, I don't know how it's even stood the test of time through all of the hurricanes that what not. Maybe it's just meant to be. It's an icon for *MY TOWN* and I would be that it stays that way!!

4. The Graffiti Bridge, oh my! The 17th Avenue train trestle. A.K.A. ‘Graffiti Bridge’. A landmark where local youths and not so youths are allowed to express their inner Pollock. It’s a Pensacola tradition and the police seem to look the other way as long as the graffiti is confined to the bridge. Some of them probably tagged the bridge themselves when they were younger. Every now and again, you will see beautiful pieces of art, in memory of Pensacolians.. or for Cancer Awareness. The bridge is one of my most favorite "monuments"!

All too often.. this happens. You'd think truck drivers can figure this out, right!?!?

5. Pensacola Beach and our Observation Wheel. While we only had the Observation Wheel for a short time (I don't know or care to know the story behind all that), it was super fun. I think that it was moved to Chicago or something. Not only are our beaches gorgeous during the day but spectacular at night-- from our night clubs to our delicious restaurants and fancy hotels.

6. Some of our food spots are pretty well known around here.. such as The FIsh House, an Upscale dockside dining overlooking beautiful Pensacola Bay and Seville Harbor that is famous for their Gris a Ya Ya. And of course, Oysters! You can get them any way around these parts and boy are they ever gresh and wonderful!

7. Seville Quarter is a huge Bar/Club/Dining Area that was started in 1967.. it's basically 7 clubs into one building in our Downtown area and is pretty much the hottest Night Club and Bar in the area. The place has so much to offer from a Piano Bar to the spot where Pensacola Idol is held.

8. Joe Patti's Seafood has become a Pensacola destination for those who seek quality seafood and friendly service. People visit from all around the country because they know that here at Joe Patti's Seafood they will find the best. Not only do they have a Gourmet Deli but Fresh Sushi as well. They will even steam your shrimp and lobster on site, for free.  This place is awesome and you can't go wrong with them.

9. McGuire's Irish Pub is one of my favorite places in Pensacola (and Destin). The Pub first opened in 1977 as a small neighborhood pub in a shopping center. In 1982 McGuire’s moved to its current location; Pensacola’s original 1927 Old Firehouse. Inside the pub you’ll find a turn-of-the-century, New York Irish Saloon themed 615-seat restaurant. The food is outrageously divine they are celebrated for the atmosphere boasting more than One Million signed dollar bills hanging from the ceilings and walls of the Pub.

10.  Last but not least-- the weather!  The weather here is awesome!  While we do have to handle/deal with humidity, I'm used to it.. we don't really have seasons (like I mentioned earlier) and that's really nice. It's great to be able to start laying out and enjoying this beautiful place in the beginning of March. It's so incredibly nice.

What do you love about your home??
